Marienville Trail Riders Snowmobile Club Clear Trails
Marienville Trail Riders Snowmobile Club members Dave Timothy, Bill Lamoreaux, and Rex Duncan help clear trails on the ANF.
On Sunday, December 13. twelve members of the Marienville Trail Riders helped clear trails 11,12, 28, ANF trail 1, 14, 15 and 16. Members Dan Stevenson, Joe Rogers, Joe LaClair, Jerry Thornton, Rex Duncan, Justin Duncan, Mike Sgro, Jeff Moser, Al Miller, Dave Timothy, Ray Bish and Bill Lamoreaux met at the groomer barn at 8:30 and returned by 4:00. They cleared more than fifty trees, cleaned culverts, and hung trail signs along the way. Snowmobile Trails open on the 18 of December and run thru March. The club would like to thank those volunteers, the Marienville Library for use of their new building for the clubs trail camera. Anyone can access the trail camera by going to the Marienville Trail riders website and clicking on camera. The club would again like to thank the Jenks Township supervisors, Howe Township supervisors, and Minard Oil for their help and cooperation. This past week the club installed a pipe on trail 11 on private property across from the Forest Lodge campground. Thank you to property owner Bob Shaffer for allowing the club to use his property as a trail connector. The US Forest Service would like all snowmobilers to know that the ANF 1 Loop will not be completely open as their will be construction work on FS160 and Trail 19 will not be accessible for this season. The closure of these trails will not allow snowmobilers to ride the Longhouse trail or complete the loop at that location which overlooks the Kinzua Dam area. Members from the Willows Snowmobile Club out of Bradford, the Forest County Snowmobile Club and the Highland Club have also been working on their trails. All snowmobilers are encouraged to join a local club and also help support the Pennsylvania State Snowmobile Association. The club would like remind all riders to ride safe and stay on approved trails.
